Strength & SPeed Training

The majority of high schools, middle schools, and club teams don't have strength and conditioning coaches. The responsibility of getting the athlete properly fit should lie on an athletic trainer. Improper conditioning and athletes performing the same tasks repetitively without proper muscle balance is one of the major causes of injury. Balance between the athlete's body and how it functions is key to limiting injury and increasing athletic performance. It's the role of athletic trainers to critically review the strength and conditioning programs of athletes and become extremely familiar with what is expected of those athletes on a daily basis. The strength training at Titan Athletes focuses on:

Athletes with proper supervision and programming can improve strength, power, endurance, balance, and proprioception; develop a positive body image; improve sports performance; & prevent injuries. Let Titan Athletes provide the proper training for your needs and goals.

Improving athletic speed and agility requires the body to be under stress while properly incorporating functional body mechanics. Improving the neuromuscular system to incorporate using more fast twitch muscle fibers will help generate force production. Titan Athletes is very knowledgeable with all sport mechanics and are able to design sport specific speed training that the athletes' sports demand. Proper speed training will limit injuries and improve athletic performance. Speed training at Titan Athletes focus on:

Incorporating speed training with strength training will provide for maximum ability to move faster. Titan Athletes will provide the proper training for your athletic goals.

Functional Movement

Every action in our lives - from climbing stairs to picking up our kids - puts stress on the structural components of the body, and utilizing improper movement patterns to perform these daily tasks can lead to injury over time. Functional movement focuses on real-world biomechanics that place productive demand on the body's core musculature and innervation. As we age, it becomes even more important to focus on functional movements to maintain a healthy and independent life. Titan Athletes recognizes the importance of functional movement to keep you performing all of your everyday tasks pain-free and without restriction.

MObility

Mobility is the body's ability to move through different positions easily and freely. Mobility affects every aspect of life, from functional movements to sport-specific exercises, and is essential to properly performing these movement patterns and preventing injury. A lack of mobility in specific joints can alter proper biomechanics and put undue stress on the kinetic chain, often leading to pain in other areas of the body. Alternately, having too much mobility in any given joint stresses the associated structures and can lead to chronic discomfort. Titan Athletes assesses each individual athlete's mobility in various joints and appropriately and effectively programs exercises to increase or stabilize joint movement based on need.

Cool-Down

After any form of exercise, it is important for the body to return to its normal resting state. A proper cool down routine helps the body gradually transition from a state of exercise to a state of rest by removing metabolic waste products, decreasing heart rate, and helping prevent muscle soreness. A cool down is an essential component of any exercise program, and Titan Athletes makes sure to include a specific cool down for each training session.

Stretching

Regular stretching is essential for gaining or maintaining flexibility, range of motion, and mobility. Muscles have a "stretch reflex" that when a muscle is stretched too far or too vigorously, the muscle contracts in order to prevent muscular damage and injury. Regular stretching can temporarily lengthen muscle fibers, allowing them to stretch further without the stretch reflex inhibiting movement. This allows joints to move through a full range of motion, which is imperative for the safe execution of both functional and sport-related movements. Titan Athletes regularly incorporates stretches into each program that have been chosen specifically based on the athlete's need.

*Training sessions are 75-90 minutes that include warm up, mobility, training and cool down.
